  • Each roll of Duck Liner covers 10 m² (108 sqft). If your application is not listed in the table above, such as insulating only the ceiling of a Sprinter 144 High Roof, measure the total area and divide it by 10 m² (108 sqft) to determine the number of rolls required. Round up to the nearest full roll.

Description:

The Tec Vanlife Duck Liner installs directly against the interior sheet metal of the van to help control condensation, reduce heat transfer, and dampen road noise and vibration. By covering cold metal surfaces, it helps prevent warm interior air from contacting the van body and creating moisture behind the finished walls and ceiling.

The liner consists of a reflective aluminum foil surface, a 3/8 inch closed cell sponge neoprene core, and a self adhesive backing. The foil helps reflect radiant heat, while the neoprene provides moisture resistance, sound deadening, and an additional layer of thermal insulation. The adhesive backing allows the material to be applied directly to clean metal surfaces without requiring separate glue.

Duck Liner is designed to be used as the first layer of a complete van insulation system. After it has been secured to the sheet metal and the seams have been sealed, install 3M Thinsulate over the Duck Liner to provide the additional R value and sound absorption required for the walls and ceiling.

Recommended insulation order: Duck Liner, 3M Thinsulate, and finished interior panels.

Installation Notes:

• Install when both the ambient temperature and the van’s metal surface temperature are between 50°F and 80°F
• Make sure the metal surface is clean, dry, and free of dust, grease, glue, epoxy, and existing insulation
• The built in adhesive backing and spray adhesives are generally sufficient for moderate ambient temperatures
• In hotter climates, van roof temperatures can reach approximately 122°F to 140°F, which may cause standard adhesives to peel away over time
• For roof installations or vehicles regularly exposed to high temperatures, apply oil based adhesives in addition to the built in adhesive backing
• Measure and cut the Duck Liner into manageable sections before removing the adhesive backing
• Apply the material in sections while slowly peeling away the adhesive backing from top to bottom
• Press the material evenly against the metal and avoid trapping air pockets underneath it
• Use a roller across the entire installed surface to ensure the adhesive is evenly distributed and the Duck Liner is fully secured to the metal
• Cover adjoining seams with construction vapor barrier tape to create a continuous and airtight layer
• Install 3M Thinsulate over the Duck Liner to provide the additional R value required for a complete insulation system
• Make sure the Duck Liner is fully secured before attaching the 3M Thinsulate
