The 4 Panel Modular Bed System can also be configured as bunk beds, a couch, a desk, or a standalone table and bench set outside the van (with optional leg kits). Plus, the bed panels mount flat against the wall to open up the entire rear of the van when not in use.
The various “modes” are achieved by mounting the bed panels in your desired configuration across three levels of J-channel rails spanning across the rear of the van. There are two rails (a double upper rail and a single base rail) per side to accommodate various height configurations (i.e., bunk beds, bench & table, etc.). Rails should be mounted at least 18” apart to accommodate a vertically hanging panel, and the base rail should function as the base seat of the system. Each bed panel has a thumb screw that holds the panel in place while in use by fitting into the predrilled J-channel rail holes. Adjoined panels clip together for added stability.
Each panel measures 18" deep and adjusts between 60" and 72" wide, with the J-channel running 75" long (plan for walls that fall within that range and stay reasonably parallel & square). The J-channel requires support through van framing or another bracing method; we sell 66" and 75" tubing for spanning a Flare or shimming out an uneven wall. When properly installed, each panel holds up to 400 lbs.
One important note: this isn't a seating system for use while driving, and it shouldn't be fitted with seatbelts or relied on in motion. Every panel needs to be secured before you drive, leg systems should be removed, and any panels mounted vertically need to be strapped down.
