Measure twice

Dimensions & fitment notes

Roof cutout: 14″ × 14″ standard opening. Unit footprint: 16.4″ wide × 23″ deep. Height: 5″ closed, 9.3″ with the lid open. Roof thickness: fits 1-1/8″ to 6-1/2″. Clearance: keep at least 8″ of roof clear behind the unit — the intake/exhaust louvers face the rear of the vehicle.

Dimensions are per the manufacturer's published specs and are provided as a fitment guide. Master Overland isn't responsible for fitment issues caused by manufacturing variances — when in doubt, measure your opening and email us before ordering.

Installation notes

We've installed a lot of these. The short version:

  • Opening: 14″ × 14″. Set the unit with the lid hinge facing the front of the vehicle and the louvers facing the rear.
  • Wiring: dedicated 12V DC circuit, minimum 5-amp service, fused. Use proper-gauge stranded wire and confirm the circuit can handle the added load.
  • Roof thickness: 1-1/8″ to 6-1/2″. Thinner than 1-1/8″? Build up the opening with wood blocking.
  • Sealant: use only sealant compatible with the plastic flange and your roof material. Do not use anything containing xylene, toluene, MEK, acetate, or acetone — they attack the flange — and avoid polysulfide sealants. The proven combination is butyl tape under the flange with self-leveling lap sealant over every screw head.
  • Screws: 16 included. Snug them down evenly; overtightening can crack the flange.
  • Driving: run it fully open or fully closed when the vehicle is moving.

Not comfortable with 12V wiring or cutting a hole in your roof? Have it installed professionally — a leaking roof vent is an expensive lesson.

Fitment

Fitment & compatibility FAQ

What size roof opening does it need?
A standard 14" × 14" roof cutout — the same opening most RV and van roof vents use. Replacing an old vent? Pull the interior trim ring and measure the opening before you order.
Will it fit my roof thickness?
The 7500K fits roofs from 1-1/8" up to 6-1/2" thick with the included garnish ring. Thinner than 1-1/8"? Add wood blocking around the opening to build it up.
Can I run it in the rain?
Yes — that's the whole point of the Deluxe. The built-in rain shield lets you ventilate in any weather with no separate cover to buy. There's no rain sensor because it doesn't need one.
Can I run it while driving?
Yes. Twin lifting arms keep the lid from fluttering at speed. Keep the lid fully open or fully closed when the vehicle is moving.
What's the difference between the 7500K and the 7000K?
Same fan, same remote, same power lift — the 7500K has a smoke lid and the 7000K has a white lid. Choose based on how much light and heat you want coming through the lid.
How much power does it use?
About 4.4 amps on high, 2.5 on medium, 1.4 on low (12V DC). Wire it to a dedicated 12V circuit with a 5-amp fuse.
Does the remote really open the lid?
Yes. The 7500K has a powered lift — open and close the vent from bed with the included remote, or use the keypad on the ceiling unit.
Real answers

Questions from customers

Questions buyers have actually asked us, answered by our team. Have one we haven't covered? Email us — we answer.

Does the smoke lid let light in?
Some. The smoke lid tints incoming light rather than blocking it — you get a soft daylight glow, not a blackout. For sleeping, pair it with a vent pillow or shade. Answered by the Master Overland team
I'm replacing a 14×14 vent that isn't a MaxxAir. Will the 7500K cover the old screw holes?
Usually, yes — the 7500K's flange is generously sized and covers standard 14×14 vent footprints. Clean off all the old sealant first so the new flange beds flat. Answered by the Master Overland team
Can I control it from a wall switch instead of the remote?
The 7500K ships with the ceiling keypad plus remote. MaxxAir makes optional wall controls for the Deluxe line — email us if you want to add one and we'll confirm the right part. Answered by the Master Overland team
How loud is it?
On low it's a background hum most people sleep through; on high it moves serious air and you'll hear it. Most of our customers run it on low or medium overnight. Answered by the Master Overland team
