HepvO BV1B/UA 1 1/4″ Hygienic Self Sealing Waterless Waste Valve
HepvO BV1B/UA 1 1/4″ Hygienic Self Sealing Waterless Waste Valve
HepvO is a unique self-sealing waste valve that prevents the escape of foul sewer air from waste discharge systems, and actively maintains the pressure equilibrium in soil and waste installations.
As a dry sealing valve, HepvO utilizes a purpose designed membrane to create an airtight seal between the living space and the drainage system. The self-sealing valve opens under the water pressure of a fixture emptying, and closes to form a tight seal after the fixture has discharged under normal atmospheric conditions.
Because HepvO is a waterless trap system, it performs successfully in RV’s and other moving vehicles where traps can lose their seal through movement and vibration. HepvO can be used in the following RV applications:
- Sinks
- Showers
- Lavatories
The use of the HepvO waterless trap also avoids a problem of the water seal freezing, and evaporation of the water seal in warm weather or extended periods of non-use, which would lead to odors escaping the vehicle.
The HepvO is used instead of the P-Trap to protect the living space from foul odors from the grey water tank, black water tank or campground sewer system.
The HepvO valves promotes hygiene, particularly where a fixture is infrequently used. HepvO differs from conventional traps, which can dry out or hold water which can become stagnant causing the emission of smells and enhancing bacterial growth.
HepvO actively eliminates negative pressure within the waste system by opening and allowing in fresh air until a state of equilibrium with atmosphere is reached. It subsequently closes to reseal the waste system and prevent foul air release. This means that the venting of the waste system is improved. In many cases, on an RV for example, the inclusion of a branch air admittance valve is no longer necessary.
The HepvO Sanitary Waste Valve opens under the water pressure of a fixture emptying and closes to form a tight seal after the fixture has discharged.
Installation:
HepvO can be installed vertically or horizontally, or any angle in-between. When installing horizontally a minimum allowable slope of 1/8” (3.175mm) per foot (30.48cm) must be maintained to ensure good drainage. This can be achieved by using the HepvO Angled Adapter supplied in the HepvO kit.
When installed at any angle other than vertically, the HepvO must have ‘ribs down’ to ensure correct drainage.
HepvO valves must be installed in the correct direction of flow which is clearly marked on the body of the product.
HepvO must be installed either immediately at the exit of each fixture, or in-line up to a maximum distance of 6ft from the exit of the fixture. Note that when used to protect a single fixture HepvO must always be installed upstream of any tees or branch connections to other waste pipes.
HepvO must be installed in an accessible location.
Cleaning:
No routine or seasonal maintenance is required for the HepvO sanitary waste valve, however, should you blow-out your drainage lines do not exceed 80-100 psi.
- HepvO is resistant to standard caustic-based drain cleaners. It is also resistant to acid-based cleaners with concentrations up to 10%. When flushing with higher concentrations of acid based cleaner, the valve must be removed before the operation.
- If mechanical drain cleaning devices are to be used it is necessary to first remove HepvO from the waste system. This provides a useful access point for servicing downstream pipework.
- It is good practice to rinse the HepvO valve with clean water after any maintenance procedure.
Features:
- It replaces the traditional water-seal trap
- Works in kitchen, bathroom, showers, and sinks in RV’s homes & boats
- Prevents the escape of foul sewer air from waste tanks
- Unlike conventional waste traps, HepvO does not rely on trapped water to create a seal
- Water seals are prone to failure by Evaporation, Siphonage, and other Mechanisms
- HepvO uses a self-sealing membrane which performs the same function as a water seal trap
- No risk of depletion or freezing.
- Actively eliminates negative pressure within the waste system
- No secondary venting of the waste system is required
- HepvO valve can be installed vertically or horizontally (with an adapter)
- This enables valuable space-saving opportunities to be achieved
- Great for RV’s in storage for weeks or months
- No need to winterize HepvO with antifreeze
